I am discussing and reading from an excellent book, which I highly recommend: "A Philosophy of Walking", by Frederic Gros, translated by John Howe and Andy Bliss, (2014, 2015, 2023), published by Verso. The author discusses 'Walking' as a 'break' from work, a stroll, but more intensely, as being alone, with yourself, and its effects on the soul, and mind, using many philosophers (Nietzsche, Rousseau, Thoreau, Kant....) as examples of how 'walking' affected them and their philosophies. Two Churches: The traditional Ukranian Orthodox Church - UOC -(affiliated to the Moscow Patriarchate) and the newly-formed (1992) Orthodox Church of Ukraine OCU - active now (since 2017) against the traditional one. In "Time Shelter", an enigmatic flaneur named Gaustine opens a "Clinic for the Past" that offers a promising treatment for Alzheimer's sufferers: each floor reproduces a decade in minute detail, transporting patients back in time. Scott Ritter was referring to what he called Russians' Threshold of Pain'. I agree based just on the reading of Russian Literature, but prefer to call it 'Acceptance of Suffering'. Suffering as an integral part of Life. We do not accept suffering.... not so willingly for the most part. What to do when confronted with life? Looking away and ignoring pain might not last forever. We can numb our pain for so long, but not forever. Reality (Truth) will catch us unprepared.
