Sewing Machine needles have a huge effect on how well your machine preforms and how well your stitches are created. I cover the most important parts of the needle, how to identify the correct way to insert the needle in your machine, how to properly thread your needle, how to tell if your needle is damaged, when you need to change your needle and when it may be causing skipped stitches. The single most important thing in creating good stitches is the needle, it is also the most overlooked and least understood. Your sewing machine needle will effect the stitch, fabric and machine. Selecting the correct size needle is crucial to project and machine, to small of needle can damage your fabric and your machine, an improperly inserted needle will not sew. Learn how to identify the correct needle and how to properly insert it in your machine. This easy and relatively quick sewing project is a great one to bust out your favorite fabric scraps and fun zippers! Introducing... the Super Simple Vinyl Zipper Pouch, which features fabric, clear vinyl, and bias tape. Download the free pattern templates on the Sewing Report website, then come back and follow the step-by-step video tutorial here. DOWNLOAD FREE PATTERN (link to PDF in this blog post) https://www.sewingreport.com/?p=4217 MATERIALS NEEDED: Main + lining fabric (Pieces need to be 21 x 8 inches to fit pattern 2x) *For the main fabric, I recommend using interfaced quilting cotton or a heavier weight fabric like canvas. My preferred fusible interfacing is Pellon Shape Flex SF101. Vinyl for sewing - I used 12 gauge (Piece needs to be 22 x 10 inches to fit pattern 2x) Bias tape - at least 26 inches long - I used prepackaged 1/2 inch double fold bias tape, but other widths can be used Zipper - at least 12 inches Many supplies featured in this video area available in my Etsy Shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/sewingreport The Juki DDL-8700 sewing machine is used to sew up the Super Simple Vinyl Zipper Pouch.
