FFW 26.1- You Can Game on NVK Now

I talked about NVK a couple of weeks ago, but this is the FOSS NVIDIA Vulkan driver. Ok, it doesn’t perform well, yet, but work is proceeding at a fever pitch. Hopefully it will be very performant soon. I am excited about this, you guys, when this is ready, it will mean we won’t be dependent on the NVIDIA proprietary drivers to get decent performance in Linux.

This is the heart of devotion. Meditation on the Lord even as we breathe.
There is a method called a breath prayer. One such prayer goes with
the cadence of your breath, and as you breathe in, you say “Abba” then
as you exhale say “I belong to you”. So, as you breathe, your mind and
heart are centered on God, and you will begin to feel greater peace than
you did at first. I used to have a motto: midius de, or “center down”.
This was a was to remind myself that I needed to re-focus on the Lord.

FFW 26.2: TFC: The Fertile Crescent

This is an RTS game on Steam. It seems interesting to me because it uses a pixel art style that is just a bit different from the usual photo-realistic fare, and because it has a Linux native client. It is not free, however, but is being very actively developed.

FFW 25.3: If You Like Civilization 6, You May Enjoy FreeCol

I’ve played a little bit, it is a turn-based colonization simulator, where you can play as any of the major European powers from the early Modern era, and each one has its own specific kinds of units and whatnot. If that kind of game is your jam, FreeCol just may be worth your time.
