Living a healthy in today's world requires getting to the root of our issues so that we can regenerate from a strong foundation. Clayton Thomas, along with Dr. Christina Rahm, created ROOT Wellness to remove the cause of our health issues so that we can lead long, healthy lives.
This episode is a masterclass on why we need to dig down to the root of our issues and Cure The Causes, as Clayton's wife Dr. Christina Rahm's book is titled. How we go about taking care of our health is the most important choice we can make on a daily basis, but we need help. Clayton realized that we need help and with Christina created The Root Brands products to help overcome the areas in which our food supply is lacking.
In addition to the overall health benefit, there is a noticeable athletic benefit from the specific formulation of these natural herbs, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. We discuss why that is important to Clayton and the benefit of having a Banned Substance Control Group (BSCG) Drug Free certification.

Episode 192 Ending Chronic Pain w/ Dr. David Clarke
Unexplained chronic pain can be debilitating to live with not just physically but also mentally and emotionally because so many people don't understand the reality of living with pain. Dr. David Clarke has dedicated his life to helping chronic pain sufferers through linking their unexplained pain to adverse, stressful life events in their past.
Dr. David Clarke shares how he was in the right place at the right time to see possibly the best healing modality for unexplained chronic pain at work. He learned that the brain can generate real symptoms when high levels of stress are not fully recognized. This occurs in many people with strong, healthy minds, affecting one in six adults and one in three primary care patients.
How does the brain do this? Research shows changes in the nerve pathways in the brain. These occur in people with stress, trauma, and repressed emotions that often are linked to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). With the correct treatment approach, the nerve pathways in the brain can return to normal and the pain will subside.
Dr. David Clarke is the President of the Psychophysiologic Disorders Association. His organization’s mission is to advance the awareness, diagnosis, and treatment of stress-related, brain-generated medical conditions.

Understanding ourselves is a key piece to having a positive, happy, and impactful life. Kim Askey Strasser and I discuss the importance of dealing with our negative thoughts, shifting our mindsets, and how technology is helping achieve these breakthroughs at faster speeds.
Episode Notes
Meta Brain Labs is using Chatbot to develop coaching programs that help individuals overcome self-limiting behaviors. The technology helps uncover both conscious and subconscious areas in which we may have negative though patterns, self-sabotaging habits, and self-limiting fears. This then allows the coaches to develop plans that will shift the client's mindset and help them achieve sustainable success.
Kim Askey Strasser is the Executive VP of Coaching and Content Development for Meta Brain Labs and leads the Meta Brain Self side of the organization. www.metabrainlabs.com

Episode 183 Vitamins for Fertility and Wellness w/ Joni Hanson Davis of Beli
Vitamins and minerals are essential needs for healthy cell growth, this is especially true from conception through our toddler years. Knowing which vitamins we need during this critical stage in development is important but so is the quality of what we consume to achieve the best absorption rate possible. Fertility expert Joni Hanson Davis shares the research behind the need for better vitamins during all phases of procreation.
It's pretty obvious that Joni Davis is passionate about fertility and vitamins. She shares that creating her vitamin company, Beli, was an eye opening experience. There was an apparent lack of focus on vitamins for fertility in the supplement industry. She also found that a majority of the vitamins for prenatal care were not as specialized as they should have been and many lacked quality ingredients.
One of my biggest takeaways from this episode is that men should be focusing on fertility vitamins as well as women. It makes total sense but is a pretty common thing to overlook. Joni also comments on research that still needs to be done regarding vitamins and fertility.

Episode 182 Plant-based Food Trends w/ Elizabeth Raymond of NoBull Burgers
Advances in the food manufacturing industry are coming at us with lightning speed. Keeping track of what is healthy vs. unhealthy, natural vs. lab grown, and nutritious vs. chemical filled is becoming more challenging. Unless, as Elizabeth Raymond says, you focus on food as fuel for your body and look for real ingredients.
Processed foods have been around for decades. In recent years, thanks to research showing that a diet higher in plants is healthier, the plant-based food movement has gained a lot of traction. As Elizabeth Raymond shares, her mom Crissanne was well ahead of the trend as she started making her veggieburgers for family and friends back in the 70s and 80s.
One of the key driving forces behind NoBull Burgers is using real food ingredients grown from the earth. We talk about the importance of knowing what is in the food you buy, whether at the grocery store or at a restaurant. While one meal won't likely kill you, it's the continual exposure to toxins, fillers, and chemicals in our foods that cause long term damage that shortens our lives. Elizabeth believes it is important to be a farm to table product and not a farm to lab to table product.

Living with chronic pain is a reality far too many people face. That's why Anna Hoffman and her daughter Vivian Daniel created The Pain Project. Their goal is to normalize chronic pain while providing a community for chronic pain sufferers.
Some, like Anna, develop chronic pain after years of living a "normal" life while others, like Vivian, live their entire lives with chronic pain. One of the key pieces of the puzzle for living with chronic pain is having a team of people who are supporting you on the journey. Episode 179 The Dangers of Weight Loss Drugs like Ozempic w/ Kayley George, RD.
Kayley George is back to discuss Ozempic, Wegovy, and other weight loss drugs. We discuss the positives and negatives of these weight loss tools. When should they be used, who benefits the most, and how do you stop using them effectively as to not regain all the weight back. We also talk about other weight loss options that don't present the negative side effects of these drugs.
Ozempic and Wegovy have been hot topics in the weight loss arena for several years now. This episode is not meant to be a bashing of weight loss drugs but rather an educational conversation about them. These drugs can cause serious side effects for some people.
We also discuss the cost factor of several weight loss options. Kayley noted that using the help of a registered dietician is usually fully covered by insurance. That is a benefit most people don't realize they have.
Kayley George is an anti-diet dietitian with a passion for women’s weight loss. If you would like to connect with Kayley, you can find her on Instagram @healthyweightlossrd and her website www.healthyweightlossrd.com.
