how much does it cost to build a website for a small business

The cost to build a website for your small business can get pretty high. But if you know even the basics of web design, including some WordPress and maybe a bit of Photoshop, you can save yourself huge expenses and hassle.

So how much does it cost to build a website for a small business? If you know the basics of web design and can build your website yourself, then you can save yourself a lot of money.

If you can handle building and running your website yourself, then really, your biggest expense will be hosting, which ranges from about $5 per month to $35 on the high end...and your payment processor -- which lets you accept payments online, which usually runs about $35 a month plus a small percentage of each sale.

But here's what's important to remember: Your web hosting and payment processor costs will be expenses you'll have to cover whether you build your website yourself or if you hire an expensive agency or freelancer.

When you hire someone to build your business website, really, you're just paying for the initial website construction and possibly any ongoing maintenance, which you'd have to pay for month after month.

So how much does the initial construction of a business website cost? Well, if you hire someone to build your small business website for you, costs can get quite high. Generally, you'd be looking at a cost of anywhere from $5000 to $10,000, depending on your needs. Yes, that high!

In fact, in another post, we discuss the option of hiring someone and the costs that are involved. If you haven't seen it yet and want to know how the costs could be so high, I'll leave a link for you in the Show Notes below.

In the meantime, that's the gist -- that's the short answer. If you hire someone to build your website for you, you can expect to pay between $5000 and $10,000...again, depending on your needs.

You may wind up a bit lower or maybe even higher, but hopefully this gives you an idea. And as I said earlier on, it's much more cost-effective to build your business website yourself.
