The first gold lode discovery in Colorado 1859

This is located very close to the Grand Z Hotel and Casino in Central City Colorado. Four million ounces of gold were extracted from the ground here after John H Gregory discovered the first gold lode in Colorado before it was a state or a territory on May 6, 1859. Movies have been filmed here, President Grant visited and it's now home to lots of casinos. It's a must stop when visiting Colorado. Located about 40 miles from Denver and 8 miles off I-70 if you are heading to the mountains. There are art galleries, breweries, theater, museums and mountain biking in Black Hawk.
