When you think about an application tier all it does explain or outline the areas that the data is coming from. You have the Azure tenant. The data collected here is at the tenant level. That would the information associated with Azure AD. This collected from the portal and also configured collections. The Azure subscription is data related to the health and management of the Azure Services. This information is collected based on the Azure portal and also through the Azure Monito u using a log profile. Now the Azure resources collect information from the metrics, configured diagnostic settings and also from the monitoring solutions. This data is related to the operation and performance of the Azure resource. The Guest OS is related to the Windows and Linux VMs. The data is collected by installing the Log Analytics agents on the data sources. Then we get to the Application Code. The collection is done through Application Insights. The information that is collected here is the data about performance and functionality of the actual application. We can also connect to custom sources that we spoke about in the previous topic. This is data that is external to Azure. This can be located on-premises, another cloud or any REST API client. This data is logs and metrics data.

We will cover this and more in this video.
