Scrappy Holiday Lined Drawstring Bags Tutorial | Easy Sewing Project

Join me as I make a scrappy version of lined super simple drawstring bags with pompom trim. This is a great beginner sewing project perfect to use as reusable gift bags for holidays and special occasions. We’re doing a Learn to Sew in 2020 series on the entry-level Brother CS7000i sewing machine. You will practice basic sewing and quilting techniques including glue basting, quilt piecing, and constructing a bag with boxed corners.

Best part is that all of the pieces have been cut out already, so you can get to the fun part of sewing right away!

Fabric + Supplies:

LARGE SIZE
2.5 inch squares (15 prints / 15 solids)
5.5 x 10.5 inch piece for top main fabric (cut 2)
3.5 x 10.5 inch piece for bottom main fabric (cut 2)
14.25 x 10.5 inch lining (cut 2)

EXTRA LARGE SIZE
5 inch squares (6 prints)
7 x 14 1/8 inch piece for top main fabric (cut 2)
5 x 14 1/8 inch piece for bottom main fabric (cut 2)
20.5 x 14 1/8 lining (cut 2)

Pom Pom Trim or other embellishment (optional)
1/2 inch Twill Tape
