RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
Those stories, but we begin this hour with a Fox News alert. The fox forecast center tracking an extremely dangerous severe weather outbreak expected to impact over 150 million people this weekend across the country. Damaging winds, gusts up to 90 miles per hour, baseball sized hail and even the potential for severe tornados. Already, in fact, about a dozen people, we believe, have been killed by the storms across the country. We have fox team coverage. Meteorologist Adam Klotz in the fox weather center, but we begin with correspondent Robert Ray on the ground in Mississippi there. Hey, rob.
>> Yeah, Kevin, good afternoon and to all the viewers across America from Elliott, Mississippi about 100 miles to the south of memphis and just to the north of Jackson. And look at some of the vote from Elliott here this morning. A tornado struck this area at about 1 A.M. Thankfully, no fatalities here in Elliott, but multiple fatalities around surrounding states, unfortunately, because of yesterday and last night’s events. Massive tornados, long track tornados, straight line winds, hail the size of baseballs, severe thunderstorms all affecting over 150 million people and all of this system began in California has been trekking across. Today is going to be particularly dangerous, those are words that the national weather service is using. This is not something that they put out lightly. In fact, in the past 10 years, three times we’ve had a potential outbreak like this and we’re just beginning, unfortunately. And Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, where we’re at, as the storm treks into the Atlanta area, and the mid Atlanta and northeast, all should be prepared. We’ve been talking to people all morning about what they’ve gone through, survivors that were in mobile homes and other structures that were almost sucked out and almost lost their lives and many have been brought to hospitals. Unfortunately there have been deaths, as the rain is starting to come down in Elliott. And the unfortunate part indicative what’s coming in the next 30 minutes, the ground is very still, and yet the atmosphere is moving quickly above. We are in a particularly dangerous situation with cells on the way back into this area, and as soon as we’re done with this live shot, Kevin, we’re going to head south to the safer zone. Not north, that area at this point is going to be surrounded by severe thunderstorms and possible tornadosment a day that likely will go down in history and certainly for the people here that found themselves survived and alive inside all of this debris, their homes, they are very, very lucky, and for those that lost their lives, people are in mourning and in shock across multiple states, Kevin.
