Nearing the end of the Georgia’s 2025 General Assembly session, spotlighting DOGE-themed political messaging, while the bills pass will impact on wallets, schools, speeding cameras, and healthcare. State Senator Frank Ginn grabs headlines with his “Go DOGE Sic’em” stance and a controversial $10K steel beam payout. Meanwhile, Governor Kemp’s litigation overhaul faces a House vote, backed by hardball tactics like special session threats and primary challenger funding. Plus, dive into Georgia’s $1.6B budget hike for 2026, shaping healthcare, education, and transportation amidst a 23% spending surge over the last three years.
You hear a lot about DOGE in GA. Republicans and democrats look to score points with policial messaging bills in the general assembly. The GA assembly has passed many bills this year that affect your wallet, your neighborhood schools and speeding cameras on your drive home and healthcare for facilities for when you are sick. Pictured is State Senator Frank Ginn holding a sign “Go DOGE Sic’em.” In another story: State senator given $10K for beams he got from state contractor for free. Frank Ginn said a metal recycling center recently paid him $10K for a collection of used steel beams that he earlier asked a state contractor to let him take from a construction site.
Kemps hardball tactics tested as litigation overhaul nears House Vote. The lobbyist wrote the bill. The senate made some changes, now if the house makes some changes it has to go back to the senate with the house changes . Now Kemp is threatening a special session and if you vote against it he will fund a primary challenger. Now in the GA GOP it is taboo to put up a challenger against an incumbent. But Kemp is saying vote my way or he has cash. What will probably happen is the House and Senate will create a joint committee to have joint consensus on the bill. They are pretending like it is a push back. But what they are doing is looking around the state to see who can get the 4 or 5 no votes to campaign that they stood up to the bill and look like there was a struggle for the bill.
GA is making billion dollar decisions about healthcare, schools and transportation. Washing could upsend the state budget. The house 2026 budget proposal approved Tuesday increases spending by $1.6B or 4.4%, the increase has been 23% over the last 3 years.
