Hello everyone. In tonight's Bible study we continue looking into how to properly study God's word with an in depth look at Genesis chapter 1.

What do I mean by properly study God's word? Well, I mean that we do an exhausted detailed look at the entirety of the verse prior to moving on to the next verse.

Essentially understanding from God's perspective exactly what He means by phrases like "in the beginning".

Does "in the beginning" mean a period of time? Or does "in the beginning" have a greater meaning in other parts of the scriptures from God's perspective?

The answer is, yes, it does have a greater meaning if you are willing to stop, ask the question, and seek God's guidance to obtain exactly what He is declaring to be His truth.

Note, it is not a hidden meaning by any stretch of the imagination. It is all written in the scriptures. One just must have the determination to want to know God more than to check a box that I read the Bible tonight.

Now was does "in the beginning" truly mean from other parts of the scriptures.

Proverbs 8:20-21“The LORD possessed me (Christ not Solomon who wrote this Proverb) AT THE BEGINNING of His way, BEFORE HIS WORKS OF OLD (prior to creating anything). I (Christ) HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED FROM EVERLASTING (do you understand that this statement would make this person speaking equal with God, as God is the only everlasting eternal One. If this person isn't God then there are two gods and we know that the Bible doesn't teach that), FROM THE BEGINNING (He states it again just in case we forget what He said previously), before there was ever an earth (He was there before anything was created).

John 1:1-3The Eternal Word
(Gen. 1:1—2:3)
IN THE BEGINNING was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Colossians 1:15-19
He (Jesus Christ) is the image (visible part) of the invisible God, the firstborn (authority) over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And HE IS BEFORE ALL THINGS, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, WHO IS THE BEGINNING (according to this verse and others, the Beginning is a person and not a duration), the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

That's what I am talking about. If you just surface read the first three words of the Bible then you completely miss the message God is communicating. As a result, everything else you read from that point on is interpreted through your misunderstanding of the first three words of the Bible which is tragic.

Hopefully, this will encourage you to hunger for a deeper understanding of God's word by conducting an exhausted comprehensive study of God's word.

Tonight's study is 1 hour and 24 minutes in duration. I have broken it into four segments. This is segment 4 of 4 titled God explains baptism in Genesis 1. Part 4
