Kristi Noem: Cracking Down on Dangerous Criminals at the Border
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has announced aggressive measures to secure the southern border, specifically targeting individuals with criminal records who have entered the United States illegally. As part of this initiative, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has launched a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign aimed at warning undocumented immigrants about the consequences of illegal entry.
The campaign features two versions of the advertisement: one directed at domestic audiences and another for international viewers. These ads will be disseminated across multiple platforms, including digital media, broadcast television, and radio. Additionally, they will be translated into various dialects to effectively reach their intended audience.
In the domestic ad, Noem outlines the administration’s firm stance on illegal immigration:
“If you leave, you may have an opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream. But understand this: Under President Trump, America’s borders are closed to lawbreakers. Follow the law, and you’ll find opportunity. Break it, and you’ll find consequences.”
In the international version, she delivers a direct warning to those considering illegal entry:
“If you are a criminal alien considering entering America illegally: Don’t even think about it. If you come here and break our laws, we will hunt you down. Criminals are not welcome in the United States.”
She further emphasized that immigrants attempting illegal entry will be apprehended, removed, and permanently barred from returning to the United States.
DHS has stated that these ads will be highly targeted through digital, text, and social media channels to reach both undocumented immigrants already residing in the U.S. and those abroad who may be planning to cross the border illegally. The Biden administration previously employed similar tactics, running radio ads in South America to discourage migration.
Under President Trump’s leadership, the administration has taken a hardline approach to curbing illegal immigration, prioritizing the deportation of individuals with criminal convictions. According to Trump’s border czar, the number of daily encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border has significantly decreased from thousands during Biden’s term to a total of 229 in the past 24 hours.
These measures underscore the administration’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and ensuring national security through strict border policies.
