Representative Nick Begich (R-AK) weighs in on how Congress can make air transportation regulations safer in the wake of the fatal airplane-helicopter crash outside of Washington, D.C. last week. “Congress has to use its power to ensure that these policies can’t change from administration to administration. When it comes to the safety of the American people, this should never be a political football and we have to take that authority away from the executive branch to ensure that Americans remain safe no matter who’s in that office and that government agencies like the FAA and others don’t become overly politicized,” he says.
