Episode 532: The Likeness The Soul of God and humans Part 2

Hello everyone. In today's Bible study we investigate what the scriptures regarding the Soul of God and humans.

Wait, are you saying that God has a soul? No, I didn't say that. God did!

In Genesis 1:26 God called His soul the "likeness".
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

The Image of God is Spirit while the likeness of God is the Soul.

How did you come to that conclusion? Well, God Himself explained it over in the book of Philippians chapter 2 verses 5 through 8.

"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and COMING IN THE LIKENESS OF MEN. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross."

This soul is the seat of all our appetites and behaviors. It governs what the body desires, seeks out, and participate in. It governs our thoughts, conscience, and intellect.

Hence we have God's image, a spirit, and God's likeness, a soul. Both of these are eternal, immortal, and invisible. Just like Jesus's.
