Rep. Barbara Lee: Elon Musk and Republicans Don’t Care About ‘Cancer Research for Children’

LUNA: “People are very close to a deal. What I will tell you is that we’ll be negotiating here. There will be no deals with the Democrats, so to lie to the American people, to pretend otherwise is just not going to happen. So you guys look at updates soon, but I just wanted to update you. We’re not cutting deals with Democrats. We will work it out here. I don’t believe the government will be shutting down, but you guys will see some great stuff very similar to President Trump’s plan yesterday.”

CABRERA: “What’s your response to that, saying they’re not cutting deals with Democrats?”
Lee: “Well, I believe that that’s what Elon Musk wants, and also, I assume, Donald Trump has co-signed that. Democrats negotiated a bipartisan deal. But what they care about is making sure that their tax breaks for billionaires rather than cancer research for children, and they don’t care about what takes place if, in fact, the government shuts down. The public wants to see us working in a bipartisan way. We have done that. So I’m telling you, Elon Musk, a billionaire, non-elected, running the Republican Party, is a danger and, in fact, it’s a danger to the American people. So who knows where this goes, but you heard her say they don’t have any interest in negotiating with Democrats, even though we have been doing this day and night. So I don’t know where the speaker takes this, but I can tell you one thing, Elon Musk is running the show.”
