Chicago’s City Council meeting on Monday became a battleground as Mayor Brandon Johnson faced heated opposition
from residents protesting his controversial 2025 budget proposal which favors illegal immigrants.
The protests reached a boiling point when Johnson ordered a temporary recess,
allowing police to clear the hall and allowing council members to vote on the budget.

Despite the uproar, the budget narrowly passed, but not without controversy.

Johnson had spent six weeks working to secure the necessary votes,
finally reaching the required 26 votes for approval, according to Fox News.
