No: 'One Size Fits All' diet...
-some are extremely health [low carb, high fat], while
-some are extremely Unhealthy [high carb, low fat]
Where on the spectrum do you want to go?
For serious athlete, 100g carbs/day would work
For IR person, any carbs can be problematic
Tool? CGM gives real-time blood sugar
response to foods you have just consumed
Can I eat this particular food?
-how much? how fast?
-at start or end of meal?
with CGM, you will know how it affects glucose, and also
how it affects insulin
Use it for 10 or 14 days, experiment, learn from it
-foods that spike your blood glucose, should
not be consumed [regularly]
CGM caution: different than a finger-prick monitor...
-don't sit in blood vessel, but in fluid surrounding vessel
-measurement is delayed 5 minutes
-is affected by blood flow, so:
if exercising or taking hot shower or sauna, then:
blood flow will increase, sensor will rise
So: when exercising and CGM rises, it is
not necessarily a rise in blood sugar but a
rise in blood flow
[can cross check with finger prick]
CGM absolute level is not as accurate as a finger prick...
-but, we are more concerned with spikes that occur
[similar to the T-wave in ECG measures...look for the
spike as troublesome, not the absolute measure]
