Del Percio: The FBI Can Do Their Own Investigation on Pete Hegseth

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
CAPEHART: “Back with me is my political panel, Susan and basil, to talk about some of Donald Trump’s other cabinet picks raising red flags. One being Pete Hegseth, who is Trump’s pick to head the Department of Defense. We spent the whole week talking about Matt Gaetz and he got out and then folks started talking about Pete Hegseth and folks are wondering is he going to make it. Well, have a listen to these senators and what they have to say about his nomination.”

UNKNOWN: “I think he’s going to be in pretty good shape.”

UNKNOWN: “He is going to be a shining star.”

UNKNOWN: “Those allegations are nothing but what you said. Allegations that are he said she said. This is a case that’s been dismissed.”

UNKNOWN: “Pete Hegseth is a tennesseean. I’m so happy you all have something to write about.”

CAPEHART: “I’m so happy you have something to write about. Brother man, I’m sorry, what? No. Sorry, making sure I didn’t say something wrong. I think he’s going to be in pretty good shape. This man has got lots of — alleged skeletons in his closet, Susan.”

DeL PERCIO: “Yes, and even if he were to put those alleged skeletons aside for a moment, I think the thing that could really sink him is his position on women serving in combat, in the military. That is huge. Especially when you have senators who are women who served in combat. Let’s not forget it only takes four.”

CAPEHART: “To sink it.”

DeL PERCIO: “To sink it. And especially with a guy like Pete Hegseth. He, this is a long time, put it this way, to let this nomination run. They’re not going to vote on this for a little under two months. That’s a lot of things that have to happen. One of the things I wouldn’t be surprised to happen is if the FBI starts doing their own investigations to present the senators because Trump is doing his own background checks. That’s on him. Fine.”

CAPEHART: “With private investigators.”

DeL PERCIO: “But it doesn’t mean that they have to take the, the U.S. Senate should take the word of Trump’s private investigators. They should do a full check. The file should be presented. Those checks should start happening now. You need professionals to do this and give the public the full picture.”
