RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
CAPEHART: “I played a moment ago for Mitch Landrieu the sound of Donald Trump talking about I will protect our women. We have been talking for days now about his talking about Congresswoman Cheney and she should be shot at with rifles. He has doubled down, triple down on that rhetoric. Broadly speaking, what does it do to American political discourse to have someone in a leadership position, a former president and someone who could be president again, speaking that way in general but speaking that way about fellow Americans in such hateful ways?”
JARRET: “It’s not what I think our country should be all about and it’s not the message that Vice President Harris is resonating across this country. Women don’t want to be in Handmaid’s Tale or Mad Man, we are not going back to that. I don’t need anybody to take care of me. I can take care of myself. To use politics as a way to kind of attack people who might have a different view or might not want to support you, that is not what a democracy is all about. Democracy is about go out there and have a conversation on the issues, discuss those, let the Americans choose between the two, and then whoever wins governance. The thought that you would take this opportunity to attack somebody in those kinds of aisleways simply because they don’t support you? Once you’re elected don’t you want somebody who has a to-do list for you that’s all about you and not articulating this clear intent to go after his enemies? That’s not what public service is all about.”
