IR is one root cause of sleep apnea, as well as,
periodontal disease...
-IR common root cause of heart disease as well
Periodontal disease bacteria may invade blood stream,
then contribute to atherosclerotic plaques
-plaques often contain same bacteria as in the mouth
Sleep apnea, associated with IR, also puts
extra stress on heart
-stopping breathing causes BP to rise

Statins?
-if have high LDL cholesterol AND are IR: problem
-likely to have the small, dense LDL
If you won't lower your IR, then, yes, take a statin
-will give little, very little benefit: not the high percentages
that drug companies say--they manipulate the stats
-by calling it relative risk reduction!
-in absolute risk reduction, it is 3-4%
Long term statin use increases risk of IR &
of becoming T2D: 2 PRIME RISK
FACTORS for HEART DISEASE

Overall benefit of statins is very suspect...
-does lower LDL, but raises IR!
-overall, maybe Increasing Risk of Heart Disease
Therefore: Why Not Just Work On Metabolic Health
and make the drug ineffective--so don't have to take it

Practitioners are in position of believing the only way to help
patients is to prescribe a drug...
-not true: simply prescribing low carb diets that lower IR
work much better, but most practitioners NOT AWARE!
-Not Taught in Med School, and not taught in inservice
