What is the "Friend/enemy" distinction? On its face, it sounds simple enough; maybe it's just an understanding of how we differentiate between people we like and people we don't. Everyone does that to some degree, but what happens when things divide very simply into one of two categories, friend and enemy, win or lose, live or die, in that moment when the threat is no longer whether or not you pay a little bit more in taxes, but whether or not you go to jail.
