John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
Jesus promised us we will never die
How can this be? What did He mean?
John 8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
John 8:52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
Death is defined as separation from God
Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
He did eat and died
But was still on earth in physical form
Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Life is the opposite of death
If death is separation from God
Then life is the union with God
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Perish is separated from God, now and for eternity
So the Lord could have told Adam
If you eat of this forbidden fruit you will be separated from God which is Life
Or if you do not eat of it and obey me, you will have Me, God, or life eternal abundantly
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We could then say
Sin is separation from God
God’s gift to mankind is eternal life, in Him, knowing Him, enjoying all He is forever
Clearly there is a death of the spirit of man, or separation from God who is a Spirit
And there is a death of the body which is the house of man on earth
When the Lord promised we would not die
He was clearly referring to a spiritual death, not the physical
That must be understood
When reading the scriptures they must be rightly divided to know when death is referred to
Which one is referenced
Eccl 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
John 6:48 I am that bread of life.
John 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
John 6:50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
1John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
1John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
There is no longer any fear of death
You do not sleep at death
You do not stop existing at death
You do not become incoherent nor in a holding tank of darkness at death
You are immediately in His presence
You receive a new spiritual body which is the end of your faith, the completion of your salvation
1Pet 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
Never die in the sense your spirit goes either to heaven or hell immediately
2Cor 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
2Cor 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
2Cor 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Phil 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
Phil 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Life being the opposite of death
The more you know Him
The more you expel death trying to work in you
Life or light expels darkness and anything that works darkness
Life brings benefits to enjoy, death brings fear
Ps 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Ps 103:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Ps 103:4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Ps 103:5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Like the moth who enters the cocoon and comes out a beautiful butterfly
