Depression Tip #10: Self-Care💙

I posted today on social media asking people if they'd actually known about self -care before their depression. If anyone in their lives had talked about self-care and looking after themselves before their depression kicked in.💙

And almost universally people said, no, we didn't know about self-care. We didn't know about the concept of self-care. So obviously self-care is important to your mental health. And if people don't talk about mental health, then they're not going to be talking about self-care.💙

But self-care is absolutely vital. So one of the things you can do to alleviate your depression or to prevent depression from recurring is to focus on self-care. It's very, very, very hard and it doesn't come naturally generally to people who have suffered from depression or who are prone to depression.💙

But make a list of things that you enjoy or things that you used to enjoy and try to incorporate those into your lives. Because it is vital to give ourselves a break from the stress and the strain of everyday life if we're going to heal from depression.💙
