MOVIE RECAPS:

The HMS/M Thetis was a brand new submarine, the third of the then modern and new class of submarine boats... the "T" class boats. She was the first submarine built on Merseyside by Cammell Laird. She was the pride of the navy, of the men who built her and the men who sailed in her. To so very many, ninety nine of them, she was soon to become their tomb. On her very first dive, her very first venture into the element for which she had been designed and built, she died. Those with her, save four died too. So close to safety, with the stern above water, the steel hull that should have protected them from the dangers of the deep, became their coffin wall. Why did this tragedy happen?
The play was recorded on location at the historic warship site, Birkenhead, Merseyside.
With Nicholas Farrell [Lieutenant-Commander Bolus, RN], David Fenwick [Leading Stocker Mack Arnold], John McArdle [Petty Officer E. Mitchell], Russell Dixon [The Newsreader], Malcolm Hebden [Captain Oram], Michael Beckley [Lieutenant Woods], Angus Sutherland [Lieutenant W. A. W. Poland, RN], Jeff Hordley [Lieutenant H. Chapman, RN], and Tom Higgins [Leading Seaman W. L. Hambrook].
Music composed and played by Paul Culligan.
Technical Presentation by Steve Brook.

Reunited with Ford Prefect, Arthur discovers that the Hitchhikers Guide he threw in the river still works - and is being updated. Rescue appears in the form of a sofa caught in the Space-Time Continuum and Arthur and Ford disappear in a fashion which would cause stern looks from the Campaign For Real Time.
Aboard the Heart of Gold Zaphod Beeblebrox is nursing a large Pan Galactic Gargleblaster and two headaches. He believes that he survived the Total Perspective Vortex while pursuing a Hitchhikers Guide employee called Zarniwoop and that Arthur marooned him by stealing the Heart of Gold, which of course Zaphod himself stole (but then Zaphod thinks he alone has the right to indulge in excitement, adventure and really wild things).
His girlfriend Trillian (who, as Tricia McMillan, is the only human apart from Arthur to survive the Destruction of Earth by the Vogon Constructor Fleet) has no memory at all of these events and is therefore convinced that Zaphod has had a psychotic episode brought on by too many drinks. Tired of his selfishness she snaps and leaves him, having herself beamed by Eddie the shipboard computer in any direction but here.
Meanwhile in the swamps of Squornshellous Zeta, Marvin the Paranoid Android pivots helplessly in circles on an artificial leg, his only company a talkative mattress called Zem ...

With his uncle Bilbo having mysteriously disappeared, Frodo finds himself in possession of a simple gold ring that has great and evil power. It is the Ruling Ring, taken long ago from the Dark Lord, Sauron, who now seeks to possess it again. BBC RADIO DRAMA: https://shorturl.at/abzRYBrian Sibley's famous adaptation has been divided into three corresponding parts, with newly recorded beginning and end narration by Ian Holm, who now stars as Bilbo in the feature films based on The Lord of the Rings. Part One, The Fellowship of the Ring, introduces us to Frodo Baggins. With his uncle Bilbo having mysteriously disappeared, Frodo finds himself in possession of a simple gold ring that has great and evil power. It is the Ruling Ring, taken long ago from the Dark Lord, Sauron, who now seeks to possess it again. Frodo must do everything he can to prevent this, and with the help of Gandalf the wizard and a band of loyal companions he begins a perilous journey across Middle-earth. Sauron's Black Riders are on their trail as they travel to Rivendell, attempt to cross the snow-swept Misty Mountains and, in desperation, enter the terrifying Mines of Moria.

So, at considerable personal discomfort, Poirot goes down to the sleepy village where the old lady lived and where, by chance, his good friend Ariadne Oliver is also staying. There he alights upon his first and most crucial clue - a newspaper article on the present whereabouts of women implicated in notorious murder cases. 1.The villagers of Chipping Cleghorn, including Miss Jane Marple, are agog with curiosity over an ad in the local gazette which reads:
'A murder is announced and will take place on Friday October 29th at Little Paddocks at 6.30pm'.
As the time approaches, the crowds gather at Little Paddocks and then the lights go out. Surely it must be a hoax...?
2.The invitation to a murder was not a game.
Who wants Letty Blacklock dead? What did Mitzi overhear in the summerhouse?
3.There is little doubt that the intended murder victim was Miss Blacklock. Will a second attempt be made on her life?
4.Everyone realises that the poison was meant for Miss Blacklock, not Dora Bunner.
Suspicion falls on the members of the group.
5.A further murder has been committed, but just as Miss Marple is piecing her thoughts together - she disappears...
Conclusion of Agatha Christie's whodunit
