Psalm 23:4 KJV

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Rod: Branch or rod for chastening, a stick for correction.

Staff: walking stick, bent pole (with a crook in the shaft to hook around the sheep’s neck to guide them to safety.

Proverbs 13:24 “Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.”
Proverbs 24:15” Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child: but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”

Comfort: to encourage, console, call near, to give impartation.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “All praise to God, the Father of our LORD Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
