cortisol and oxytocin levels during non-in-person communication

emotional regulation unfortunately is not something we are entirely born with.

we have some biases, but in an ever-changing, over-stimulating world - even those biases are often saturated into dysfunction.

in evaluating and curating our engagements we have to make active decisions that enable us to not only contain our experience, but set up an opportunity for the next generation to do so also.

a fascinating study showed the results of two groups of girls interacting with their mother.

one through text in troubling moments.

one through voice calls in troubling moments.

the text group had no reduction in cortisol and no increase in oxytocin.

the voice group had a reduction in cortisol and an increase in oxytocin.

so not all communication is equal.

all this and more at the somatic sunday live retreat starting September 14, details in the usual place.

to your healing 💙,

Jas
