Let's take a moment to talk about atypical depression. Atypical depression is regular depression but with a few unusual features. So someone will present with the normal depression features of feeling down or sad, hopeless, worthless, numb, easily irritable, easily frustrated and struggling with cognitive things like memory, concentration, making decisions, things like that.💙

But whereas in normal depression people tend to eat less and also sleep less, insomnia is common. In atypical depression people tend to eat more and they tend to sleep more. In addition the main defining feature is that they can also experience temporarily feelings of pleasure and happiness in anticipation of a positive event or during a positive event.💙

That is really the distinguishing feature between atypical depression and normal typical major depression.💙
