Emotional maturity, particularly in caregiving is more than just the exploration of our own inner terrain and a disciplined interaction with the world.

If we are going to be the mentors for the next generation, we have to learn how that exposure turns into replicable application.

an interesting study found that there was a 30 million word difference between affluent households and poorer households in the first 3 years of life. It was assumed this may be one of the smoking guns to later lower academic results.

MIT scientists have since been able to fully close this gap. How?

Conversational turns, i.e. the frequency in which the metaphorical microphone is passed in a discussion.

It is the difference between being talked at and being talked with.

Why is this important in our healing?

If you don’t know what you missed, you don't know how to ‘turn up for yourself now’ as we are instructed to do.

If you don’t know what you missed, you don’t know how to ‘break the cycle’ as we are instructed to do.

If you don’t know what you missed, we can fall quickly into the falsehood of confusing experience with identity and identity with fate.

To your healing 💙,

Jas
