Following directions found in an inscription hidden in volcanic rock, the explorers travel to a volcano in Iceland to begin their journey. The Day The Earth Stood Still (Movie Trailer HD) 1951

Classic Clips
The Day the Earth Stood Still is a 1951 American science fiction film from 20th Century Fox, produced by Julian Blaustein and directed by Robert Wise. It stars Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlowe, Sam Jaffe, Billy Gray, Frances Bavier and Lock Martin. The screenplay was written by Edmund H. North, based on the 1940 science fiction short story "Farewell to the Master" by Harry Bates. The film score was composed by Bernard Herrmann. Set in the Cold War during the early stages of the nuclear arms race, the storyline involves a humanoid alien visitor who comes to Earth, accompanied by a powerful robot, to deliver an important message that will affect the entire human race. In 1995, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
When a UFO lands in Washington, D.C., bearing a message for Earth's leaders, all of humanity stands still. Klaatu (Michael Rennie) has come on behalf of alien life who have been watching Cold War-era nuclear proliferation on Earth. But it is Klaatu's soft-spoken robot Gort that presents a more immediate threat to onlookers. A single mother (Patricia Neal) and her son teach the world about peace and tolerance in this moral fable, ousting the tanks and soldiers that greet the alien's arrival.

Forbidden Planet (Movie Trailer) 1956

Classic Clips
Forbidden Planet is a 1956 American science fiction film from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, produced by Nicholas Nayfack, and directed by Fred M. Wilcox from a script by Cyril Hume that was based on a film story by Allen Adler and Irving Block. It stars Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, and Leslie Nielsen. Shot in Eastmancolor and CinemaScope, this landmark film is considered one of the great science fiction films of the 1950s, a precursor of contemporary science fiction cinema. The characters and isolated setting have been compared to those in William Shakespeare's The Tempest, and the plot contains certain happenings analogous to the play, leading many to consider it a loose adaptation.
A spacecraft travels to the distant planet Altair IV to discover the fate of a group of scientists sent there decades earlier. When Commander John J. Adams (Leslie Nielsen) and his crew arrive, they discover only two people: Dr. Morbius (Walter Pidgeon) and his daughter, Altaira (Anne Francis), who was born on the remote planet. Soon, Adams begins to uncover the mystery of what happened on Altair IV, and why Morbius and Altaira are the sole survivors.
Forbidden Planet's effects team was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Special Effects at the 29th Academy Awards. Tony Magistrale describes it as one of the best examples of early techno-horror. In 2013, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Many film critics have dubbed the film the "worst movie ever made"
Classic Clips, however, disagrees. On the list of the top 50 worst movies ever, this one does not make the list. For instance, Voodoo Woman - 1957, Frankenstein Conquers The World - 1965, Santa Claus Conquers The Martians - 1964, Howard The Duck - 1986, Bela Lugosi Meets A Brooklyn Gorilla - 1952, Frankenstein Meets The Space Monster - 1965, The Killer Shrews - 1959, Great White - 1980, The Thing With Two Heads - 1972, Eegah - 1962, Plan 9 From Outer Space - 1959, Trog - 1970 and The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed Up Zombies - 1967, are just a few beauties that come immediately to mind that are much, much worse than Fire Maidens Of Outer Space. But hey, watch the movie for yourself and you be the judge!

Project Moon Base (Movie Trailer) 1953

Project Moonbase (a.k.a. It co-stars Larry Johns, Herb Jacobs, Barbara Morrison, and Ernestine Barrier. The film was distributed by Lippert Pictures and is based on a story by Robert A. Heinlein, who shares the screenwriting credit with producer Jack Seaman.
In the not-too-distant future of 1970, the United States is considering building bases on the Moon and send a team to investigate. One of the team turns out to be a foreign spy, putting the entire operation and the future of the world is in danger.
Project Moonbase is unusual for its time in attempting to portray space travel in a "realistic" manner and for depicting a future in which women hold positions of authority and responsibility equal to men; as an example, the President of the United States is a woman. However, Colonel Breiteis, the female commander of the moon mission, is shown be picked for her gender, generally shown as a member of a "weaker sex", and even threatened with a spanking by her superior officer.
