Sanders-TOWNSEND: “Yes, Mika, you just brought the receipts, as the young people would say, and I appreciated them. Look, the facts here are very, very important, but I have heard, and Mara Gay makes this point often, and I want to underscore what I’ve heard Mara say a number of times on this particular program as well, is that people also want something to vote for. And I think Democrats —“
BRZEZINSKI: “Right.”
Sanders-TOWNSEND: “— and Democratic voters, and even independent voters who are —- are leaning towards Democrats this cycle, they don’t just want Democrats to point out all the terrible things about Donald Trump and then not give them a positive vision. And I think what the Harris-Walz campaign is doing very well is that they have this positive vision for the future, that they are — that they are, I think, adequately articulating, and I — I think we’re going to see more policy coming out of that specific policy proposals over the next week and a half or so. We got some additional policy proposals this past weekend, you know, one on exempting tips from taxes, federal taxes, some more specific contours around Harris’s border policy if she were to become president, not just signing that very strong enforcement bill, but also creating more pathways to citizenship. And so it’s like a both and, not a either or, when it comes to enforcement and immigration. So look, those are the things people want to see, and I just — I don’t think Donald Trump can compete with those. But again, it’s going to be close. This is still early, and people need to wait and see. And if you don’t like what you’re hearing from Donald Trump, if you love what you’re hearing from Kamala Harris, do a little bit more. You got to sign up. And if you want more from Donald Trump, I think people — his voters — his voters need to hold him accountable. But I won’t hold my breath, Mika.”
