Without protection like camouflage or bunkers, the jets became easy targets. Russia then launched cluster rockets and Iskander-M missiles, resulting in the destruction of five active SU-27s and damage to two under repair. Aerial footage showed explosions and smoke at the airfield. - Ukraine's former Air Force speaker Yuriy Ignat confirmed the strike but accused Russia of exaggerating the damage. Forbes' David Ax noted that six SU-27s were targeted, with two destroyed and four damaged.
