Gavin Newsom: ‘People Need to See Joe Biden Again, Scranton Joe, the Guy You Want to Have a Beer with’

Reporter: “Governor, what does Biden need —“

Reporter 2: “[inaudible] — voters who are concerned about what they saw from President Biden on stage during the debate and in public moments on the campaign trail for the last few months?”

Newsom: “Well, he’s — he’s running. And he made that clear to all of us. And just get out there, dust off, show up. As I said, do more, worry less. And the president has to do more, acknowledge that. He said that — parroting his lines — in terms of reaching out to people directly. Again, now, getting outside the bubble and connecting people to who he is, his character. You know, I think people need to see Joe Biden, Scranton Joe, you know, the guy you want to have a beer with. Person you respect, remind you of someone you love in your family. I think that was — if there was anything else that I took from that meeting, and that guy showed up last night, all of us said that’s the guy we want out on the campaign trail. And so, we’re hoping to see a lot more of that.”
