Depression: Why No Recovery? 💙

Why do so few people actually heal completely from depression? First of all, you need to actually know you've got depression to be able to ask for help. And with the cognitive impairments, the impaired thinking that comes with depression, it gets harder and harder and harder to recognize that you've actually got a problem, you've got depression. 💙

And so that makes it really difficult to get help unless someone else steps in and helps you. But if you're in depression, you're probably in depression because of the external support network not being there. 💙

And then when you do reach out for help, there's the stigma associated from depression. Then there's the fact that if you go for the drug route for antidepressants, there are side effects and those side effects can be serious enough to make you want to stop taking the antidepressants. 💙

If you go down the therapy route, you find out that in addition to the cost and the expense and the hassle of doing therapy, you find out that you've had coping mechanisms, probably since you were young. 💙
