I will post one part everyday until the last one,20 ,1 hour plus videos for one of the most comprehensive docu’s ever made.
During the Middle Ages, the 17 independent Provinces of the Netherlands were ruled by the Lord of the Netherlands. When the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V abdicated in 1555, his son King Philip II took over.
He wanted to make the independent Provinces into one country and exterminate the Protestants through the Inquisition.
The Dutch resisted and a rebellion was brewing...

This is the second installment of the story of the Eighty Years' War.
During the Middle Ages, the 17 independent provinces were ruled by the Lord of the Netherlands, King Philip II.
King Philip II of Spain wanted to merge the independent provinces into one country and exterminate the Protestants with the Inquisite.
The Dutch protested and a rebellion brewed.

The Dutch had rebelled against their lord, King Philip II of Spain.
The Prince of Orange, the designated leader of the rebellion, had fled to Germany. The rebels tried to drive out the royal army with a number of invasions, but ultimately failed. Orange declared war on the King's representative, the Governor Alva, and then invaded the Netherlands itself.

Free Humanity
The Dutch had rebelled against their Lord, King Philip II of Spain. After 10 years of fighting, of all 17 provinces, only Holland and Zeeland continued to fight for William, the Prince of Orange, the leader of the rebellion. But King Philip was concerned about the behavior of his soldiers.

The Dutch had rebelled against their Lord, King Philip II of Spain. Of the 17 states, only Holland and Zeeland still fought for William, the Prince of Orange, the leader of the rebellion. Philip had declared himself bankrupt and did not pay his army in the Netherlands. The Royal troops then began plundering, and the 17 states united to fight against the Spanish King.

The Netherlands had rebelled against their Lord, King Philip II of Spain, but the war to kick the Spanish out of the country was not going well.
The united north and the divided south were now fighting each other, and the new Governor for the King, Alessandro Farnese, the future Duke of Parma, was working to sow more division in the country. He was currently in the middle of the siege of Maastricht.

The Dutch had rebelled against their Lord, King Philip II of Spain and started a war. Ultimately, seven rebel states formed a union and showed their Lord the door. Some wanted to replace him with a French Prince, others with Prince William of Orange. Both Princes died in 1584. King Philip thought that everything would return to normal. However, the Dutch continued their disobedience, but now they really needed to find a sovereign to rule them.

England had come to the aid of the Dutch rebels in their uprising against their lord, King Philip II of Spain. But the rebels lost a lot of ground, because the Duke of Parma took more and more cities that belonged to the King. Something had to be done.

The Dutch rebels were now led by State Advocate Johan van Oldenbarnevelt and Count Maurits van Nassau.
The Republic had lost a lot of land, because the Duke of Parma had captured many cities and returned them to the King.
The rebels had a plan to take Breda back, using a peat ship as a Trojan Horse.
Meanwhile, King Philip II had his sights set on the crown of France.

The Dutch rebels were doing well in their fight and had regained a few important cities, but they wanted more.
Meanwhile, the Duke of Parma was frustrated because King Flips II still coveted the crown of France and demanded the impossible from the Duke.

Count Maurits and the State Army were trapped near Nieuwpoort. Archduke Albrecht was closing in and there would be a fight anyway.

Count Maurits and the State Army had won the battle of Nieuwpoort, but it had achieved nothing. Archduke Albrecht, although defeated, soon made new plans.
