CAPEHART: “Gentlemen, we were talking during the break and I didn’t come to you during my conversation because I figured you are here to talk about the court rulings, but you have thoughts on the president’s debate performance and all this talk about dumping President Biden from the ticket or the president dropping out of the race. You go first.”
KHARDORI: “The debate was not good. It was not a good performance. However, I have to say that all these scenarios about him being replaced or whatever, particularly the involuntary ones, they sound like wasting fanfiction to me. I think that the party both by commission and omission and I mean not just the official party operatives, but the media sort of aligned with the party, they made their decision by commission and omission months, if not years ago. I think as a practical matter, I don’t see a scenario in which they could switch him out that would not be riskier than the status quo and the one thing I would also say to people who are saying that it was such a shock to see Joe Biden perform the way he did on Thursday night is I don’t think those people have been paying close enough attention to the president’s schedule and to his public appearances. When Rob Hurt issued his report among other things identifying possible cognitive deficiencies on the part of the president in connection with his special counsel’s investigation of the classified documents, Joe Biden went out and gave an impromptu press availability that night. You could’ve seen everything you saw last Thursday night at that press availability months ago.”
