GAY: “I wish I could sit in on the debate prep. I mean, I don’t know who is playing Donald Trump, but there is a lot of theater at play and a lot of work that’s going to be done. I mean, I actually think that the rules do favor the audience, most importantly, to get the best sense for Americans of where these two men stand and what their differences are. It’s really important that this stage —“

GAY: “— is not used as — as an actual stage for Donald Trump for one of his rallies, that he’s able — you know, he shouldn’t be able to go on like that. I actually, I have a background in tabloids and I think sometimes we forget that it can be very damaging if a candidate doesn’t have a quick and good and clear answer and isn’t able to deliver that in a short amount of time. So I don’t know that Donald Trump is going to — that this is going to favor Donald Trump. I think it — it may —“

GAY: “— actually show that he doesn’t have answers for the American people that are serious. He’s not policy-based. So people who are watching these debates are going to be looking for that, not red meat.”
