Mondaire Jones: My Priorities Will Be Abortion Rights, Border Security, Ban Assault Weapons, and Improve Healthcare

CAPEHART: “In less than a minute Congressman Mondaire Jones, if you win back the seat against Congressman Mike Lawlor, what is your first priority?”
Jones: “The first priority has to be making sure that we codify Roe v. Wade and rescue our democracy. We are staring at a situation right now where there is not a democratic majority in January, Republicans may not certify a Joe Biden victory. It is just really important that we have adults in the room in the majority, unlike the chaos, extremism, and incompetence, that we’ve seen. But we have to do more than that, Jonathan. We, of course, have to secure our border. We, of course, have to make sure that we are banning assault weapons so that kids can stop getting gunned down in schools around the country, and we have to continue to lower the cost of prescription drugs and healthcare, which is something I’m very passionate about, as someone who watched his grandmother work past the age of retirement just to pay for the high cost of prescription drugs.”
