After the highs of the 1970s came the lows of the 1980s as Wales struggled as an international rugby side on and off the pitch.

Despite brief highs such as the inclusion of Jonathan Davies into the national team and a third place finish at the inaugural Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, so much of the decade was spent in the doldrums where losing became a habit and players struggled to match their forebears of the 1970s.
