5 Minutes on Faith: Give praise for deliverance from the enemy! #43

18 can mean life or bondage. 18 is a time of freedom and coming of age as a young adult.

18 is also reflected in the number of years Israel was in bondage to the Moabites and again for another 18 years to the Philistines and Amorites.

Psalm 18 is a psalm of victory sung by King David when he was finally delivered from the hands of his enemies. 15 years passed from the time Samuel anointed David as King until he fully ascended to the throne, after Saul’s death. David was about 15 years old when he was anointed. He was 30 years old when he ascended to the throne.

The last 7 years Saul aggressively pursued David to capture and kill him.

2 Samuel 22 is quite similar to Psalm 18 and records great detail triumph that is only accomplished by the LORD.

Psalm 18: 1-3, 48-49
“I love You, LORD, my strength. The LORD Is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God , my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

“ He delivers me from my enemies; surely You lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent man. Therefore, I will give thanks to You among the nations, O LORD, and I will sing praises to Your name.
