Newsom Says He Supports Unrestricted Abortion and Claims ‘The Debate Around Late-Term Abortion’ Is ‘A Complete Canard’

WELKER: “Well, let me — let me press you though, governor, do you think there is a week that access to abortion should be banned?”
Newsom: “I’m going to — I — I think we’ve established that firmly in the context of what states are doing like California, where we established a constitutional right to access abortion. And the end of the day, I think that’s a determination for women and their doctors.”
WELKER: “At any week?”
Newsom: “As it relates to the issues in California, we’ve established that firmly in the state Constitution. As it relates to getting into the debate around late-term abortion, that’s a complete canard.”
