PERINO: “Your experience, I think, lends well to this moment for us to ask you some of these questions, which, it’s just — these are the quotes that are out there, this is what we’re seeing. In fact, here’s some polling data we have from Monmouth, the most recent one, that confidence in Biden’s mental health to carry out another term, 67 percent said not too much or not at all. Last week, an ABC poll said 86 percent. And Nate Silver today writes this in The New York Times. ‘Biden needs to reassure the American public that he is capable of handling public appearances that aren’t on easy mode, or he needs to stand down or he’s probably going to lose to Trump.’ How will Democrats get through this if President Biden doesn’t give the American people more confidence that he has the ability to be president for a second term?”

DINGELL: “Well, good morning, Dana. It’s good to see you. First of all, I’m going to tell you that I am the one person that never believes polls. As you’ll recall, I was the person in 2015 and 2016 when everybody showed Hillary Clinton winning by significant margins, etc. —“

PERINO: “That’s right.”

DINGELL: “— that said Donald Trump could win Michigan, and he did.”

PERINO: “And you were right.”

DINGELL: “These poll mean — and I was right. What I think is that Joe Biden needs to be allowed to be Joe Biden. I was with him a couple of weeks ago for eight hours and he was the Joe Biden that I know. When he is talking to people, he is energized and he cares about issues, he is Joe Biden. And Joe Biden, there is nobody better than Joe Biden. I think the campaign needs to let him get out there and be who he is and I also am sick and tired of everybody talking about his age. When you listen — look at the age of Donald Trump, which is only a couple of years younger, who’s got 91 felony counts against him and goes on rants that make no sense, the one that he did a week ago Saturday night.”
