Biden: “Oh, man, you got chicken fingers. You got the whole deal. I went the route of making sure I had a hamburger. So tell me about you guys. What you doing these days?”
FATHER: “Why don’t you share about your passion for sports?”
SON 1: “I’m playing AAU basketball right now.”
Biden: “Are you really? What — are you a guard?”
SON 1: “Yes, sir.”
Biden: “Now, what grade are you in?”
SON 1: “Seventh grade.”
Biden: “Seventh grade.”
SON 2: “Right now, I’m just doing basketball. Point guard on the JV team for my school.”
FATHER: “How about in school? How are you all doing in school? Why don’t you tell the president about the school?”
SON 2: “Favorite thing about it is the business academy I’m in. We get to, like, travel, so we’ve been to, like, NC State, Wake Tech and — “
Biden: “You’re kidding me.”
SON 2: “Yeah, we went to this small dry cleaning business. And it’s just — it’s cool, it’s a great experience.”
Biden: “I’m impressed. Is that a new program in the school?”
FATHER: “Yes, sir, it is. It just started. Just a couple years ago.”
Biden: “You know how much this guy loves you. You just feel it, can’t you?”
SON 1: “Yes, sir, I can.”
Biden: “Your dad would jump in front of a bullet for you. By the way, we dads are hard to raise. Once you’re a teenager, we’re hard to raise. So you gotta be patient with us, you know what I mean?”
SON 2: “Yes, sir.”
