Happy Sunday and welcome to the Pilbara - one of our favourite places in all of Australia! This week we're in for a good time as we leave Bullara Station Stay and tow our van through the Pilbara in Western Australia to Karijini National Park. We make pit stops at some fun places along the way. First, we discover a great little overnight rest stop that'll make you want to camp under the stars every night and then we give you a quick little tour of the mining town Paraburdoo. Our journey continues as we roll into the mining town of Tom Price, where we grab a few things and check out a huge mining truck! Finally, we arrive at our destination, Dales Overflow Campground in the heart of Karijini National Park where Chris fires up the Ozbraai firepit for a delicious Bullara Station spit roast! And that's just the beginning! We visit the information center, where a lovely local indigenous lady named Kaylene hooks us up with a full itinerary of must-see spots and the best times to see them during our stay in the national park. Day one of exploration kicks off with Banjimi Drive, a road known for its rough, corrugated, and sometimes muddy conditions. You can even get a T Shirt from the info centre that says 'I survived Banjima Drive'!! It's a no-go for 2WD vehicles, but we're up for it! Our first stop? Weano Gorge - our first hike? Upper Weano Gorge - a sneak peek of the wonders to come. You won't believe the crystal-clear (and ice cold!) water and breathtaking Pilbara gorges. And just when you think it can't get any better, we continue to Lower Weano Gorge, put our wetsuits on & jump into Handrail Pool - because, why not? This is just the beginning of our unforgettable Karijini adventures! Karijini National Park holds a special place in our hearts, and we can't wait to share every moment of our journey with you. What a mission this adventure was!! We hit Steep Point in Useless Loop, Shark Bay, Western Australia! We show you how we navigate the sandy, corrugated road, sharing our insights on dropping tire pressures as the road went from good to terrible 🤪 The scenery out here is next level with huge, white sand dunes, and the brilliant turquoise waters that kept appearing in between the dunes. We help out a group of people who find themselves bogged with boats and trailers on the long sandy hill - MaxTrax to the rescue again! Camping at Shelter Bay was amazing!! It's a stunning spot with views across to Dirk Hartog Island. We did the short drive to Steep Point at sunset and got to see the brand new sign! And then came the moment of truth – a challenging exit at 4am - night time sand dune driving anyone? Lucky we have covered the truck with Lazerlamps lights! We are so lucky to cross paths with a knowledgeable & hilarious Indigenous tour guide, Darren ‘Capes’ Capewell, who shares invaluable tips and even takes a refreshing swim (splash!) with us at Cape Peron. His tours, Wula Gura Nyinda are recognised as one of the Top 10 Indigenous Experiences in Australia! Winches, jetty jumping, birthdays, Yorke Peninsula & The Flinders Ranges! This is one jam-packed episode! How tight is too tight? Greg from @Campedia gives Chris a hand to get out of our super tight campsite using the Carbon Offroad Winch, BOS jockey wheel & stabilisers and Cruisemaster air bags. Happy birthday to me! I got a DJI Mavi 3 😁 It's a another tight squeeze into Burners Beach Campground where we stay for one night. Carafan dust reduction, jetty jumping, fitness classes at Point Turton and a 3 hour drive to the tiny town of Melrose, renowned for its epic MTB trails, at the base of The Flinders Ranges.
