BLESS YOUR ATTACKER? / Pastor Bob's Coffee Break

Dear Pastor Bob: How do you bless someone who is attacking you (either with fists or words)? I was taught to resist all kind of aggression and do nothing. My parents and church leaders would say something if I "reacted" but remain silent even when they witnessed the attack. I can deal with some of this for some time, but eventually my safety valve is going to pop. I've asked God to take away my ability to speak when I'm dealing with such situations, but time and time again I fail. I'm supposed to show the love of God and be a blessing to others. Yet what I achieve is making God look bad.
