PROPHETS FOR PROFIT?

Dear Pastor Bob: What do you think about “prophets” on TV who say they have a “word” from the Lord specifically for you? There are several that do this. They will say someone’s name, usually by first name basis only. And then they will give out information that supposedly is just intended for one specific person. It seems to me that much of these details could apply to several people and not just one person only. So this leads me to suspect that maybe these things aren’t a word from the Lord after all, and they are just throwing things out there knowing they will be relatable to someone. Thus, making the “prophet” look good. Much of these “words from the Lord” are good things, and encouraging things. I don’t see anything heretical with most of it. But are these things really from the Lord, 0r are these “prophets” just faking it?
