Patlijan Dizmeh - A Delicious Turkish Dish
Ingredients:
• 2 large sweet eggplants
• 2 cloves of garlic
For the Meatballs:
• 200 grams minced meat
• 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
• 1 onion
• Black pepper, salt, and thyme to taste
For the Sauce:
• 1 tablespoon tomato paste
• 1 cup water
• Salt and a pinch of red pepper powder
For the Base:
• Grate 1 large tomato and add salt
Instructions:
1. Cut the eggplant skin into strips, about the thickness of a finger, in a ring shape. Soak them in salted water for 5 minutes to reduce bitterness. Then, drain and pat them dry.
2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the eggplants until golden brown.
3. Mix the meatball ingredients in a bowl, knead well, and shape them as shown in the video.
4. Spread the grated tomato with salt and spices on the bottom of a dish. Arrange the eggplants and meatballs alternately on top. You can also place bell peppers in the center of the dish. Add crushed garlic on top.
5. Mix the sauce ingredients together and pour over the contents in the dish. Grease a parchment paper and place it in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 10 to 15 minutes. Then, remove the parchment paper and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the top is golden brown. Enjoy your meal!
