Genesis 49

Jacob/Israel gives his twelve sons a final blessing according to their personalities and accomplishments. Reuben is chastised for 'violating the sanctity of Jacob's bed' because he slept with Bilhah in Chapter 35 .

He curses Levi and Simeon for their wrathful anger, since they committed mass murder in chapter 34. Judah, the brother that sold Joseph into slavery is blessed with being a ruler in the future. Gad is predicted to prevail after getting jumped by a troop of people.

We learn that Leah has passed away and was buried in Jacob's family burial plot purchased by Abraham in Chapter 23. Leah's death was not specifically mentioned before this chapter (unless I missed it, but I looked several times and googled it).

Jacob/Israel dies, or 'gives up the ghost' in this chapter. He is buried in the plot Abraham purchased as requested.
