A helpful post-dinner satiety tip

Many of us, myself included have a sweet tooth. The biggest barrier to dietary adherence isn’t the Xs and Os of a meal plan, it’s often the psychological component. It’s the late night cravings that interfere with our long term successes.

How do we “trick out” our psychology? At the end of the day, the body runs on signals. Signal X this thing, and you receive Y outcome. So how do we signal satiety? One way is with taste or rather, the elimination of it.

Brush teeth, gargle with mouthwash and floss immediately following a savory meal, eliminate that sensation of taste and, provided your nutritional demands are met, your brain will help you out by providing that satiety signal that will allow you to stay the course.

There’s a ton of literature to substantiate this effect if you’re interested in doing your own research but the barrier for entry is low. Just clean your mouth immediately after you eat while your food is still settling.
