Semi hydroponics has the reputation for being terrible for orchid roots and eventually orchid roots will die because they are not being cultivated in a wet / dry cycle! Well, orchid roots will die for many reasons, and semi hydroponics is no different than any other form of growing orchids. However, when you see a dead root system that was grown in semi hydroponics, then it is always the leca to blame, the set up and semi hydroponics itself. I could easily use that as an excuse for the roots systems you see here, the ones that have failed, but I am not going to do that, because the reason these root systems failed had many other influences, and maybe leca was one of those negative influences, but my conditions or the lack of ideal conditions certainly played a huge part in the demise of the root systems in this example video. Meanwhile, I have 100s of other orchids growing in leca and semi hydroponics and they are just so pot bound that regular repotting is a must! #tips #tricks #tipsandtricks #beginners #roots
