Overuse of social media can pose many mental health challenges
1. Information overload: The constant influx of notifications and news is not normal and can result in overwhelm, overstimulation, and psychological desensitization resulting in increased anxiety and stress
2. Decreased Face to Face Socialization: Increased online integrations can result in a decrease in real world social skills. Face to face communication is essential.
3. Comparison: Only viewing curated, idealized representations of others can trick our brains into feeling inadequacy, envy, and inferiority.
4. Addiction: Social media platforms are designed for maximum interaction and addictive by design.
